Love the Dunluce Treestand Day

Dunluce Tree Stand

Sep 27, 2025

The Friends of the Dunluce Treestand, ENPS, the Dunluce Community League, and the Edmonton River Valley Conservation Coalition (ERVCC) hosted a “Love the Dunluce Treestand Day” on September 27 at the Dunluce Treestand (15807 121 Street in northwest Edmonton).

The treestand consists mainly of deciduous trees, aspen, balsam poplar, paper birch and Manitoba maple, with an undergrowth of various native shrubs including red-osier dogwood, saskatoon, high-bush cranberry, and wild roses. There are also many different native plants on the forest floor. The City does provide maintenance but there are ongoing issues with litter, and invasive species like burdock and Canada thistle. In the future, we would like to organize more events and have litter cleanups, guided walks and other activities to help steward this natural gem. Our aim is to bring awareness and appreciation to the Dunluce Treestand, one of the largest (14.7 acres) patches of natural forest within Edmonton.
