About the event
This talk is designed for gardeners, landowners, permaculture practitioners, and members of the general public interested in practical, nature-based solutions.
The presentation will explore Alberta’s native plant communities, their ecological functions, and how native species support pollinators, birds, soil health, and water conservation. Attendees will learn why native plants are uniquely adapted to local conditions and how their use can reduce maintenance, irrigation needs, and environmental impact.
A key focus of the event will be practical strategies for transforming conventional lawns and landscapes into regenerative, native plant-based systems. The speakers will discuss where to start, common challenges, and design approaches that align with permaculture principles while enhancing urban and rural ecology.
The session will include time for discussion and questions, leaving participants with a clearer understanding of how native plants can be used to create thriving landscapes that benefit both people and the environment.
Mark your calendars and we'll see you there!
